MAUI (HAWAII) POLICE CARS

MISSISSAUGA WATCH Blog:

I spent my last day on Maui visiting the Police and Fire Services stationed at the Lahaina Civic Center

I received permission to photograph and videotape their vehicles. Also bought a souvenir Maui Police badge for my Canada cap. I talked story with a Maui Police officer who even backed out her vehicle so she could take some pics of me beside her car.

Out of all the photos I’ll share you the best of the lot because it’s appropriate for today –as my response to the tragedy in Kirkwood, Missouri.

“INTEGRITY, COMPASSION, FAIRNESS, SERVICE”

Can you imagine how tough that motto must be to live up to? Especially when an officer has some Belligerent spewing a virulent “GO **** YOURSELF!” right in his face?

“INTEGRITY, COMPASSION, FAIRNESS, SERVICE”

I saw that Maui Police logo and immediately thought of Robert Browning.

“Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, or what’s a heaven for?”

“INTEGRITY, COMPASSION, FAIRNESS, SERVICE” Ho Boy that must be one tough Grasp.

And then there’s that Hawaiian inside the logo — “E MALAMA KAKOU”

“E MALAMA KAKOU” –that’s Hawaiian for “TO CARE FOR ALL”.

“to care for all”….

Maui gets it. They know that it’s not possible to “TO CARE FOR ALL” without the prerequisite “Infrastructure” “INTEGRITY, COMPASSION, FAIRNESS, SERVICE”.

    Hi Jetblue4you. …
Hi Jetblue4you. Actually in some ways you’re right when you say that a “normal person” wouldn’t be interested in videotaping police cars. I’m actually researching law enforcement for a book that I intend to write. On this particular occasion an officer came on break, saw me videotaping, was intrigued and we started talking story for his entire break. I learned a lot about the challenges the law enforcement faces. More important how the pressure are different than here in Canada. Aloha.

LOLOLOLOLOOLLOLOOL—- you are obsessed, a normal person would not ask the police to take photos of there cars. Those cops probaly thought your were a wierdo or something lol

    the only reason why …
the only reason why the police does this is because the police dept. wants to save money.

Kauai and Maui police have a smaller force compared to Oahu and the big island so those two depts. have only marked patrol cars and doesn’t use there own cars they use to but they both stop…….I beleive in the big island they have more options to pick when it comes to the cars than Oahu. The big island has the 2008 GT Coupe on Oahu we have mustangs too but not the 2008 kind.

    Aloha Gunner9613,

    Aloha Gunner9613,

Actually it’s not “obsessed” but rather thorough research into Mississauga, Ontario, Canada municipal conduct and operations. I cover policing because municipalities are in charge of policing.

I document Maui police as a comparative (wanted even to drop in our their Police Services Board meetings but events conspired against me).

I love the Maui Police logo — “To Care for All”. I respect that “All” part.

    All…

    Take care,
    MISSISSAUGAWATCH

    Hi there dusty990. …
Hi there dusty990. I have to say that the most beautiful design that I’ve seen on a police car is Maui Police. But I’m really proud of our local Peel Regional Police service. I sit in on all their Services Board meetings and while I’ve lost all faith in the local politicians, the actual police in those meetings have a steady hand on the wheel. I believe they care about us –which is way more than I can say for any of the Peel politicians. All the best, The Mississauga Muse

    Hey there …
Hey there flipino808. I checked out your YouTube site and I see that you’re a Big Island police officer. Neat!

Yeah, my pics are on Flickr too. Our police, Peel Regional Police are an excellent police service (we’re lucky). I don’t envy Big Island police cars what with them having to go over all the terrain of the biggest Hawaiian Island. Aloha from Canada, flipino808
