Location:
This family-friendly hotel is located in southern Kauai on Waipouli Beach in Kappa Town, just a one-hour drive from Waimea Valley or north to Hanalei Valley. The nearby community of Kapaa offers small-town charm and all the expected conveniences. Kauai Village shopping centre is just a stones throw away with shops, restaurants and galleries. Coconut Market Place is only 800 m from the guests front door with more shopping, dining and a cinema complex. Waikanaloa and Waikapanae Wet Caves are roughly a 90-minute drive away.
Facilities:
This all-new resort complex was designed with refinement and distinction and offers 108 apartments. Guests can indulge their senses at this sanctuary of relaxation on the scenic eastern shore of Kauai. On-site is a fantasy pool of lava rock and cascading waterfalls. The hotel also offers a pristine beachfront to gaze upon a glowing sunrise. The resort was recently recognized by the Building Industry Association of Hawaii as a 2006 Parade of Homes standout. There is a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, as well as a restaurant, free parking and laundry service (charges apply).
Rooms:
The apartments are exquisitely accented with warm Indonesian woods and cool Peruvian travertine. Superbly fitted kitchens feature Sub-Zero refrigerators, Wolf convection ovens, and sleek granite countertops. The rooms have an en suite shower/bathtub, hairdryer and individually regulated air conditioning units. In the interest of comfort, each room comes with a king-size bed, satellite TV, radio, direct dial telephone and Internet access. Other facilities include a safe, iron and ironing board, coffe and tea making facilities as well as a terrace or balcony.
Sports/Entertainment:
The heated soft-water river pool meanders over 0.8 hectares with flumed water slides and 3 sand-bottom spa pools. Landscaped walking paths invite casual strolls to the shore. The Aveda Spa Salon pampers guests with nurturing body care and restorative massage (charges apply). Guests can also relax at the poolside snack bar or work out in the gym (charges apply). Nearby Wailua Golf Course, the area’s popular public course, is a traditional favorite of visitors and residents.

How to get there:
From Lihue International Airport turn right at the first set of traffic lights onto Kapule Highway (51). Continue on Highway 51 until it intersects with Kuhio Highway (#56). Cross the Wailua River Bridge. Continue past the coconut plantation at Waipouli for approximately 800 m, where the hotel is located on the right.

If you are on the Island of Kauai and you want to skydive these guys do a great job. Port Allen Airport (near the salt pond beach / where the ultra lights go out of) beautiful views, and cant beat the early morning sunrise jump!

Near Drowning, Kauai, Aupuni Hawaii, January 21, 2007

A man named Cody nearly drowned today at Larson’s Beach on the island of Kauai, Aupuni Hawaii. He was snorkling in the shallows in the protected inner reef area when he was carried out to the crashing surf. He called for help to his friend Dr. Bob Wotring of Kauai Clinic. Dr. Bob went to Cody’s rescue but was unable to bring Cody in out of the danger zone of pounding surf and reef edge due to the strong current and waves. Eventually a fisherman named Malani came to the rescue and he too tried to help, and managed to keep Cody’s head above water but could not bring Cody in. Eventually Darrel Jarmusch of Kilauea came to the rescue using a borrowed snorkel and mask, but Darrel and Malani working together could not swim in with Cody and eventually he slipped from their grasp. Darrel was able to grab Cody once again and attempted a rescue but nearly drowned himself in the attempt after his borrowed snorkel became clogged. By this time Dr. Wotring was swiming near Cody and urged him to remain calm and assured him he would be ok. Darrel and Malani swam in to shore to get help and they gathered three boogie boards, some rope and a better snorkel. Then Darrel swam back out through the surf on a boogie board with two other boggie boards in tow. As Darrel reached Cody and Dr. Wotring a Kauai Fire and Rescue waterman on a jetski came riding over the waves to the great relief of Cody, Darrel, Dr. Wotring and observers on shore. Eventually a Coast Guard vessel from Nawiliwili showed up. All three men boarded the Coast Guard Vessel and were then ferried in one by one to the shore by the Kauai Fire and Rescue waterman on the back of the jetski.
