I am thinking of moving to hawaii once I graduate from college and I was wondering what is the best, safest, nicest, and least expensive as possible neighborhood to live in Oahu, Hawaii

I was stationed on oahu and live in kaneohe bay and kailua. both were great. there was some crime but it is very dependant on what areas you live in. i would suggest a scouting trip, as it will only take a few hours and you'll be able to see either town very well. i lived there for 2.5 years and loved every minute of it and would recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I just moved here to Hawaii. We are intereseted in camping with our dog. Are there any pet-friendly campgrounds? We have searched online and couldnt find our answer.

I'm going to spend a couple days on the Big Island of Hawaii for a wedding. Should I split up my vacation and spend a couple of days on Oahu? I think it would be nice to see another island.

What's great fun to do in Oahu?
Thanks for the replies, I live in Los Angeles, so I really would not be interested in much shopping, more of the natural stuff.

I had a great time on Oahu, and there is a lot to do there!

My favorites were hiking Diamond Head, driving all the way around the island with stops at Pearl Harbor, The Valley of Temples and the Dole Plantation.

Waikiki is great fun, as is watching the surfers on the North Shore.

I highly recommend splitting your vaction up and really getting a good taste of the islands!

Going to Kauai huh…very nice! This is a great spot for a vacation or a honeymoon! The temperature in the South Pacific Islands is more or less constant year round and you don't really have to pack any thing warm. For the beach obviously make sure you have a few suits and plenty of sunblock. The sun is VERY strong in Hawaii and you can get a nasty burn if you don't watch out. I recommend going tanning a few times b/4 you go just to get you preped for the sun if you do plan to spend some time on the beach. At night it is still pretty warm and almost never gets below 70 degrees. Depending on where on the island you are you can count on a shower at some point in your day and if you are in the Rainforested parts you can def count on getting wet at some point in your day. Some parts of Kauai get amazing amounts of annual rainfal! So sunblock, bathing suits, dinner outfit or two, and shorts/tee shirts and you should be all set. I would def bring a mask and snorkel or rent one but that's up to you. Ok hope this helps! If you are going to Oahu for any length of time let me know cause i have a ton of good info for that island. IM me or email me for more info if you need. Have a great trip!

Theres a possibility well on vacation in maui that i may need to get my chest drained, If that was to happen what sort of medical costs would i be looking at?.. Fluid builds up about once a week and i’ve been having a once a week visit to a doctor, Ill be in Maui for 10 days.

Actually, I am not sure you can count on the price being similar to what you pay at home. My impression is that health care charges are higher in the US than in Canada.

I looked for thoracic surgeons on Maui, but all I could find was an ad from Maui Memorial looking to hire one. But I did find a pulmonologist. If he cannot do the taps, he may be able to direct you to someone who can.

Good luck & I hope you can work something out.
