Other than car, how can you travel around Kauai?
Author: admin
Hello, my partner and I are planning on going to Kauai for vacation. Although we plan to rent a car, we also want other transportation options. Does Kauai have a comprehensive bus and taxi service?
I've been to Kauai many times and to this day, a car is the way to go. They do have bus service, but that is mostly around Kapaa and the central part of the island. Taxi's are ok, but expensive. I do see people who also rent a motorcycle or a scooter. Don't bother renting a jeep as there are very few places where you would need 4 wheel drive. If you are planning on going on a group tour, they often pick you right up at your hotel, so no worries there. The main thing to know about Kauai is traffic is not bad at all most of the time, but avoid the heaviest populated areas from 4pm to 6pm. That would be in Kapaa and Lihue area. Kauai is my favorite island as they don't have any high rises ( nothing can be built taller then a palm tree), it is much quieter, more tropical, and what you think of true Hawaii to be.
